BRAD Pitt and Angelina Jolie made their public debut as a married couple in Australia in November 2014 at the Sydney premiere of the film Jolie had shot in NSW and Queensland, Unbroken.
Their first fight as a married couple also went public here when they were snapped arguing on a hotel balcony the morning of the premiere.
They’d finally cemented their 10-year relationship by exchanging wedding vows in France only three months prior.
Pitt was said to look frustrated and Jolie exasperated during the exchange, but both were smiling by the time they hit the red carpet for the premiere.
The apparent argument was a far cry from the happy time Down Under Jolie had described to News Corp Australia earlier that year.
The entire Jolie-Pitt clan spent time here in late 2013-early 2014 when Jolie was directing the Oscar-nominated Unbroken over several months.
Jolie remembered this time in Australia as “a really wonderful” family experience.
“The children learnt to surf and skate,” she said, making the most of “the outdoor lifestyle”.
And the family camped overnight several times at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
“I remember the first morning I woke up in the zoo, about 5 o’clock in the morning. I thought that Brad was outside playing a trick on me with a whistle ... It was your crazy birds! I didn’t actually think that was possible to make that sound that early in the morning.
“We had our Christmas there as well, which was lovely. I love a hot Christmas.”
Miyavi, a Japanese rock star who played a WWII camp guard in Unbroken, hung out with the Jolie-Pitts at the Zoo in November 2013 and observed a close, fun-loving clan.
“Brad came from London to celebrate Pax’s birthday and Thanksgiving,” Miyavi revealed. “The kids ran around the campfire and then slept in little tents. We all got animal onesies. I got a penguin, Brad got an alligator and Angie got a zebra. We wore them that night.
“It was my first time to hang out with Brad. He was so natural. He and Angie are great parents. They dedicate themselves to their kids.”
Pitt had previously visited Australia for the first time in June of 2103 — making a flying visit to promote his movie World War Z with son Pax, then nine, in tow.
“It’s even better than it looks on TV,” Pitt said while in Sydney. He added that they were just “in for a barbecue and then out’”.
