Cam Newton Maintains Drip During Brawl At 7-On-7 Football Tournament

May 2024 · 3 minute read

Cam Newton‘s mettle on the football field cannot be denied, but now people also see that he is a composed fighter. The leader in NFL quarterback rushing touchdowns was caught on camera in a brawl after the We Ball Sports seven-on-seven football tournament in Atlanta this past weekend.

While several videos of the actual fight are circulating on the internet, there has yet to be any revelation as to why it began. Perhaps it was hard feelings after a loss in the tourney, as there is a video of one man directly talking about Newton saying “y’all non-throwing a** Atlanta hero quarterback cannot beat me” and encouraging people to “check the film.”

Whatever the case may be, the fists were flying. The 2015 NFL MVP is seen fending off two men while his clothing and hat stay fully intact in one video. According to one of the captions, the people he brawled with were known as TSP, short for TopShelf Performance, a local seven-on-seven football team.

The wildest part is Cam Newton was responsible for putting the tournament together under his C1N foundation. However, his charitable efforts to put together something special for the Atlanta residents didn’t stop people from trying to blindside punch him while he fought off multiple other players.

“Cam Newton looks unphased getting jumped,” one person tweeted in response to the videos. Another commenter used the experience as an example of why people shouldn’t underestimate professional athletes. “Cam Newton got jumped by 6 guys,” they wrote. “Dude proceeded to handle each and every one of them and look unphased after. Yall gotta stop letting these internet narratives boost your heads up. Football players are used to going against 300lb+ dudes. Yall not it.”

Newton hasn’t played in the NFL since returning to his first team, the Carolina Panthers, in 2021. He has actively been campaigning to join a roster and has even been willing to be part of any team’s practice squad. While he waits for an opportunity to take the field, he has had success riling up NFL fans with his 4th&1 Podcast that he began earlier this month. Watch him call the San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Brock Purdy the 10th-best player on their team below.
