Drake has submitted his and 21 Savage‘s album Her Loss for Grammy consideration, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The album’s submission was expected, being that it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. However, Drizzy has been against the prestigious award show for some time now.
Her Loss has reportedly been submitted for Album of The Year and Best Rap Album for the 2024 awards show. The LP boasts the song “Rich Flex,” which has been submitted for Record of The Year, Song of The Year, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. “Spin Bout U” has also been offered for Best Melodic Rap Performance, Record of The Year, and Song of The Year.
It’s also possible that the “Slime You Out” rapper could be nominated alongside Travis $cott for “Meltdown” and with Young Thug for “Oh U Want,” which are both submitted for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.
In 2020, Drake criticized the Grammys after his OVO artist The Weeknd didn’t receive any noms for his After Hours album.
“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exist now and the ones that come after,” Drake said on Instagram at the time. “It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just won’t change their ways.”
He went on, “The other day I said @theweeknd was a lock for either album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way. This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up over time and pass on to the generations to come.”
The Weeknd also stated, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”
The Toronto icon has boycotted the Grammys following The Weeknd’s snub, withdrawing his own nominations at the 64th annual awards held in April 2022. Additionally, Drake’s team also extracted submissions for Honestly, Nevermind and its popular singles for this year’s ceremony.
However, the 6 God did score Best Melodic Rap Performance for Future’s “Wait For U.” As Drake recently released his eighth studio album, For All the Dogs, it will be eligible for submission at the 67th annual Grammy awards.
